Practicum #5 Michael Hayford

So, as I've furthered explored my collective Intelligence community I was interested in trying to find out if it existed outside of the State of Wisconsin and if so where many of the people were posting from. I started asking around and I found that it actually is quite diverse. Many of the people that weren't already in out state complained about the lack of formal events and tournaments to play in and also said that there weren't many people to play with.
What I also found interesting is that many of the people who play on the online game actually learned it from the yahoo game itself. While I didn't find it all that surprising it was still interesting to talk to people about it who learned from the online game whereas I had learned it with some of my friends during High School. The reason I found this interesting is because I find that there just isn't enough information online to get a full grasp of the game without talking to other people about it. While the community itself cannot be very accepting, it's getting very hard to tell as not many people are participating on a daily basis in the blog. The most activity happens on the online game where people expect you to play fast and already understand the rules. It would seem difficult to learn in such an environment, but not impossible as some people have obviously done it.
