One of the most versatile features of Twitter is the user's option to link it with other forms of technology. Twitter can be posted to a personal blog, updated via facebook and more. I finally got around to linking my Twitter and my facebook. Now when I tweet something, it can automatically show up on my facebook page as a status update.
I'm not totally crazy about this option because I don't really use my status feature very often. It drives me crazy when people are status crazy and put one up every minute of the day so I don't use it very often. Twitter, on the other hand, is pretty much made for those short bits of information, so its more appropriate to post more than once a day. I'll probably disable the linking pretty soon but maybe I'll just leave it and see how long it takes someone to comment on it or make fun of me.
I completely agree with you regarding how linking Twitter to Facebook is not the most desirable feature. Like you said, it is perfectly acceptable to update your Twitter several times a day, especially if you find interesting links etc.., but several Facebook statuses a day can be a bit much. There has actually been a few shout outs on badgerherald.com about people being annoyed when people do this because hashtags do not do anything on Facebook (and when you link it to your Twitter, hashtags will show up).
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you regarding the annoyance of linking your facebook to twitter. Facebook was not designed for status updates about where one is, what one is doing, and all the other reasons use twitter. Facebook statuses should be designated to sharing links, and talking directly to your small group of friends. Twitter is more of a broadcast.
