Today is the first day where I actually appreciated something that Second Life was capable of. When I went to choose a destination, I chose the category of "chat". I had no idea what type of domain I was entering, it gave no description. Instead of throwing me into the woods like it normally does, I was placed in front of a drive in movie! There were actually other avatars present, which is rare in my Second Life experience. The screen starting playing an ACTUAL movie, first it said "Columbia Pictures," and then it was the beginning of a movie. I typed into the chat if anyone knew what movie was playing, and they responded back, habla espanol? I was able to somewhat understand what was going on in the chat, it was pretty beginner Spanish. The movie turned out to be Green Hornet, which I've actually never seen. If I had headphones, maybe I would have stayed. I also got a FREE snack for the first time in Second Life... something free. Crazy.

  1. Thats actually kind of a cool feature. I hate watching movies by myself but maybe if I felt like a group of people were watching with me it would be more like a movie theater setting? Probably not, but still cool either way

  2. I like that it's like a movie theater, but I would almost rather do that with my friends than with a bunch of strangers. I don't know. Cool that it's a pretty recent movie though, and you could watch it for free.

  3. This is an interesting concept. I never thought that they'd actually put a movie theatre atmosphere in this kind of chat. It makes you wonder what they can do with the internet and possibly what might come in the future. I think its cool that you can watch with people that you might not know but still chat without talking over the movie, and of course the best part is that the movie is free.
