Practicum #5-KelseyK

Finally decided to start scrobbling on Last.fm – don’t know why I didn’t start sooner! The scrobbler basically provides a “one-stop shop” sort of idea. Everything is in one place, which makes using Last.fm much simpler and easily navigable (pictured below).

The scrobbler allows the Last.fm user to bypass the ads (though already far and few between on the website), have personal top charts created, and it is MUCH easier to connect to your neighbors using this feature (pictured below).

Another thing that’s nice about the scrobbler feature is that the music doesn’t stop playing if you minimize the window, which is an annoying feature of the website. You can also easily share tracks with a neighbor or friend by using the “Share” button pictured above. If you want to share a track, you simply click the button and all you have to do is type the person’s username! I’ll make sure to explore this feature more in my last two posts!

  1. This sounds great! I think I will start using last.fm for listening to music. I usually have pandora up on my computer but this sounds better.

  2. I agree, I think last.fm sounds like a really interesting website. I tend to gravitate towards Pandora and Grooveshark, but this seems to have the best of both worlds. I don't know if you've looked into this at all but I wonder if they have a phone app...

  3. I used to use Pandora as well but Last.fm is great! I definitely recommend it. They DO have a phone app for Android and iPhone I think! I have a blackberry so unfortunately I can't utilize it.
