Plants vs. Zombies

I always find it interesting how games like this, which have low production values, silly premises, and require very little knowledge or skill, are so addicting for all levels of "gamers."

I, myself, rarely play video games (I always say I'm a real athlete, not a virtual one). However, when I stumble onto, or forced onto in this case, these kinds of games are very addicting. I thought that I would only play for a few minutes and then quit. However, when I died rather quickly I got quite annoyed and proceeded to play for at least another 15 minutes.

I think that's why these games are so popular. On the one hand, if you progress to another level, it gives you a sense of accomplishment. However, if you fail, you get really irritated because the game is "so easy" and "so dumb" that you feel you need prove you are better or above it.

That is exactly what happened to me. I died very quickly the first couple times, which angered me because I realized how simple it was, but somehow, I was messing up. Once I got the hang of it and progressed to new levels, I had the feeling of "I told you so, this is easy."
