I don't know much about the available Wikis out in cyberspace, so I decided to Google it. The first thing that popped up was a Wikipedia post on Wikis. The article told me about the History of Wikis (the first Wiki was the WikiWikiWeb, named after the Wiki Wiki shuttle at the Honolulu Airport) among other things, such as Rules governing Wikis (5 pillars of Wikipedia) and security of Wikis. I decided to find WikiWikiWeb and see what it is all about. It does not look like Wikipedia, but instead looks like a simpl web page with various hyperlinks that connect you to different pages. I like what it says about the Wiki: "Treat a page here as a half-finished piece of sidewalk art. Dont' scuff it up. Don't rub it out...We rely on each other to help new things come into being, like ants building nests." It seems to capture the purpose of Wikis. WikiWikiWeb is about Software development, and since I am openly computer-illiterate, I do not have anything to add.
