Practicum 4: FourSquare
As the weeks go on with FourSquare I have gained more friends and Badges. However, I find myself losing interest in the FourSquare program. Its not that it isn’t cool to see where your friends are or find out tips about certain locations, but I don’t really go to many different places being that I am in Madison all the time. I generally check into the same four places: College Library, Grainger Hall, Humanities, and Vilas. These are the places I have class and/or study.
I feel FourSquare is a program that is really only exciting and useful in a bigger city, where there are many users and always new places to go. Over spring break I am heading down to Florida. I plan on actually utilizing FourSquare as an informational device to get advice on the places I am visiting. I think it will definitely improve my trip as I will be able to find out where the best places to eat, party, and relax are in the area I am going. In addition, the FourSquare “Trending Now” feature will allow me to see where a lot of people are checking in so I know what to avoid and where to go.
