As I'm actively participating in the three forums I chose, I noticed that they have very similar policies and regulations for posting, and being a member. For example, two of them explain that, obviously, no insulting posts should be made, they explicitly ask for respect and seriousness towards the community and their members.
Another thing that I found very interesting in one of the forums, queerattitude, was that they ask you not to share personal information. They don't want you to provide your full name, school being attended, address, email etc. They don't cite the reasons, but obviously to prevent bullying and even criminal acts against any members. Here is the link to the link to the rules guidelines that you have to follow once you are part of the community. http://www.queerattitude.com/forums/posts.php?t=32
For this website you also have to make 10 posts so you can start adding friend and have access to more blogs, etc.
The other two forums are less restricted you only have to sign up if you want to start sharing a blog or post comments. Although, for LGBT community forum, you do have to share 5 posts to become an official member. Yahoo forum is more basic, once signed in you just have to share posts and create your topic.
So far, the forum that I'm enjoying more is queerattitude, is more managed by professionals, and taken a bit more seriously than the others, it's almost like a facebook version. They even provide you the demographics, and other facts that I will be sharing in class.
