When I Googled my name "Andrew Jacobs," the first few results were the New York Times journalist with the same name.Then there were a few results with people who had the e-mail address of andrewjacobs@...edu. Unfortunately, my e-mail is ajacobs3 so it would not appear under a Google search for my name.
There was also a link for Linkedln, which had 25 professional profiles for people with my name. Therefore, I think it would be a good idea after I graduate to create a Linkedln profile in case employers want to Google me.
I think the main reason Google doesn't link to me in particular is because I have a somewhat common name. Therefore, there are many prominent people with my name that are searched a lot. I.e. the NY Times author and a filmmaker. I also don't have any pages under my name, except for my Facebook account.
Maybe one day...
