Practicum #1- Taylor Wagner

For my project I'm exploring twitter and my name is TaylorWagner5. I was already somewhat familiar with twitter but I'm going to use to this project to explore more with hashtags, trending topics etc etc. Its also interesting because I'm doing an internship with a website, Go Try It On, and I'm supposed to use twitter for that as a way of online marketing. Twitter is essentially a marketing dream. It gives companies, magazines, celebrities and pretty much anyone else direct access to their customers and fans. For instance, I follow InStyle magazine and they tweet about their online articles upwards 35 times a day. Even if I only read three of the articles, thats three times that I traveled to their website that I would not have if I wasn't following them on twitter. They have more than 1,800,000 followers so I can only imagine how much traffic twitter brings to their website. This increased traffic also benefits all of the companies that are featured in InStyle magazine so its a win-win for everyone involved. In an increasingly consumer-centered society, its interesting to explore whether Twitter has helped boost sales for companies.
