Practicum #1- Holly

For my practicum I have created a personal homepage. On February 11th I spent about an hour signing up for a website on webs.com, which is a really easy way for people to create websites who don't know how to code. I chose a website (hollywallace.webs.com) and a template. Then I spent a while navigating the site and figuring out what buttons were for what. The sitebuilder is really easy to use. You can select which page you want to edit then choose fonts, colors, text alignment, and more. You have to add a content box to each page (Home, About Me, Interests, etc.) then fill the content box with text, photos, links, etc. After completing each page it is saved as a draft, which you then must publish for it is to officially appear on your website. The first day I merely navigated the site and filled out my About Me section. The picture to the right is what my website looked like before I added any information (unfortunately there are ads on the side of each page, I'm assuming to help pay for the sites because they are free). I plan to fill in the rest of my pages with my personal information, upload my resume, and add a link to my dad's website. I am also planning on taking a course for beginners that can show me how to do some basic codes so I can try to do some stuff on the website without the template.

  1. I know you will have all your personal information and resume on you website, but what do you plan on using the website for? Will if be for employers? Friends? Family? All of the above? Basically what is your goal of having a website?
