Practicum 1: Olivia W.

Hi Everyone! For my practicum project I will looking at how childrens/tweens use the internet. After the first day of presentations, I was having a really hard time in figuring out what I would be doing. I first tried to google search 'children's blog' which I know realize was very unintelligent of me considering I am looking at younger children's youth of the internet--I highly doubt that they are posting on blogs and having full on conversations with strangers.

Thinking about it harder, I realized what do most kids do online? Play games! Immediately, the children that I nanny for came into my head and the game that they are obsessed with -- Club Penguin. Doing some research into that, I learned its an 'online virtual world for kids'. Children can create a membership with their parents consent and play virtually online with other penguins all over the world!

I google searched 'what children do online' and nothing too unique came up. Mostly all the top articles were 'what parents should be aware of when their children are online'. All of the articles were about monitoring children's online activity.

I am wondering if anyone in class who works with kids has an other suggestions to what websites kids play comes on!
