Overall, the site is fun for about five to ten minutes but then it gets old. It's a very simple concept and I am surprised they haven't added more features like skins to go over the frame of what you see from their camera or other photobooth like ideas. I am also surprised at the small amount of advertisements. It's a relatively popular site and you think the creator would have ads plastered everywhere by now. I'm sure no one would know the difference as long as it didn't interrupt the chat. Either way Chatroulette is good for a laugh or two every once in a while.

Chatroulette
Chatroulette... we meet again. This was not the first time I have used the website to "meet" people all over the world. Just like before, I did not have a meaningful conversation with anyone whatsoever. I think the appeal of the website is that people think they are going to see something crazy happen, but more often than not they see a man exposing himself or someone asking to see boobs. I personally think the site can be very entertaining but it is a vicious cycle of entertainment followed by disgusting nudity. Me and my roommate were bunnies for Halloween so we wear those masks and go on Chatroulette (you know, just to get the conversation started). This involves people asking us about Donnie Darko and thats pretty much the extent of the conversation.

I agree with you saying that it is fun for about five to ten minutes. Last year when it first started to get popular, I found the same thing to be true. People are inappropriate or you just realize that you really don't have much to say to a complete stranger while staring at their face.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I do remember one time when we were chatting someone who actually was at school here in Madison also. It was a unique experience--but overall I feel as though the site has reached its peak point.
