Blog #4: Google

The main thing I learned from Googling myself: there is a really good basketball player at Bradley University with the exact same name as me. Since the entire first page consisted of basketball news about her, I decided to see if I showed up on pages further down. When I clicked on the second page the first link that shows up is my Twitter account (here's my link if you want to help me gain more followers! http://twitter.com/KatieLyohn). Following that was four more links to articles featuring Katie Yohn basketball player and then comes a link for this lovely blog and one of my practicum posts. The third page was filled with basketball news stories and one of my random Twitter posts. The fourth page brought nothing pertaining to me, and the fifth page had another link to one of my posts for this blog. After that I didn't see anything pertaining to me for three pages so I stopped looking. Google images is similar-no pics of me, just the basketball player.

One thing I was surprised at is not even my Facebook showed up. Katie Yohn basketball player's Facebook was there but not mine. This could be a good thing because now if employers look for me they won't be able to find personal pictures that I don't want them to see. I am a little bit disappointed that my Twitter didn't appear sooner as that is something I would like employers to be able to easily find in a search. I recently requested for my blog url (www.katieyohn.wordpress.com) to be added to Google so hopefully in the next couple of weeks that will show up. I am guessing it will not though as there is just too much information about Katie Yohn basketball player.
