For my blog post I decided to take a trip down memory lane and check out Myspace. Like everyone else, I had a Myspace profile in middle school; naturally, the first thing I did when I got on the site was try to sign into my old profile. However, I couldn't remember the email I used, much less the password, since I haven't used it in a very long time. So, next I tried simply searching my name. This was successful, but to my surprise I discovered I had 4 different profiles! If I remember correctly, when my friends first started using Myspace I wanted one, but had no idea how to make one. So, I asked some friends to make one for me. They made a few different profiles, and I guess I just never really got around to deleting them. Needless to say, I've now begun the complicated process of proving my identity to Myspace so they can delete the profiles.
One of the most entertaining aspects of looking at Myspace was seeing my friends' old profiles. A lot of the pictures people used were hilarious, simply because everyone looked so young. The profiles were almost like time capsules, untouched since 2004. Myspace still hasn't lost its sketchy qualities though; the worst part in my opinion is that you can browse anyone on the site by age, gender, and location-without even being a member signed into a profile! Talk about creepy. I definitely remember people's profiles looking more over-the-top though, it seems like the site re-formatted or something in the years since I've used it. Myspace still manages to look cluttered though, and is nowhere near as clean and professional-looking as Facebook. Overall, I'm definitely done with Myspace, and once I finally get those profiles deleted I'm never going back.
