I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that the film forum community "Chasing the Frog" wasn't as vibrant as it purported to be. I was really hoping to become more involved in a community that I could engage in discussion with. Instead, much of their "community" consists of about 10 prominent members and then others that come and go. The majority of their 40,000 members are people who signed up once to ask a quick question and then never signed back on.
On the stat tracker it also says that the most users ever online was 769. That was back in 2008. Like my first foray into the forum world with Cinema Blend, I feel that Chasing the Frog is also falling victim to facebook and newer or flashier websites. People just aren't drawn to forums anymore. Especially considering many of them look archaic and are in bad need of a graphics update.
I think I might stick with this site a little longer after the practicum project ends but more than likely I'll begin looking for a community that is slightly more active and pleasing to the eyes.
