Today I started to play Club Penguin while using cheats! I googled cheats and was surprised with how many websites were created solely for the purpose of helping people cheat on Club Penguin. Many sites that I looked at offered ways to earn more money, coins, stamps, complete missions, or tips to navigate the game. Some tips I found to be rather humorous because they would guarantee with practice you could master the desired skill level. I never knew people cared this much to create all these cheats and tips. It makes me wonder if children are really playing on this game because I don't think children would be able to create the websites that provide these cheats.
I earned 4 stamps using cheat codes found on one website. I had them pulled up on my computer at the same time as I was playing because I still find this game extremely hard to navigate. I played thin ice and earned 2 stamps pretty easily. I was getting the hang of the game but then it said in order to continue playing I had to become a member. I ran into the same problem as I was playing Astro Barrier.
I really don't like how Club Penguin charges for a membership but it is a great way to make money. The kids I babysit each had a membership for a month and said it was fun but that they still played the same amount of time even when they didn't have memberships. I am unsure if I would purchase a membership for my child (if I had one) because I feel like this game can suck you in so fast and then all your time is spent playing on the computer when so many other things can be done.
It was very surprising to find out that Club Penguin has websites for cheats. I agree that it seems unlikely that the demographic Club Penguin is targeted at would be capable of creating cheats or websites for cheats. It seems more likely that older age groups play Club Penguin. Another possibility is that coders have been creating cheats in the hopes og making a profit from children who use them. It is also possible that creating cheats for Club Penguin is easier than other, more complex sites, so some coders use it as practice. I have no idea how creating cheats works, so these are just possibilites.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would pay for my children to use this site (if I had any) either because the presence of these cheat websites makes Club Penguin seem a little skeptical. I would be nervous to have my children playing on a site where there were possibly much older people playing as well.
