Practicum #4 Reddit

As I continue to surf Reddit, I find more and more things that are interesting or amusing but also things that are becoming annoying and not amusing. Many people who create their own rage comics or play with memes are not very innovative or funny. Some users lash out at these people by replying to their posts and downvoting it. Some people make their own comics or posts expressing how they feel. Some of the creativity and intelligence gets dumbed down by younger users, yet very few people are malicious towards these users. The site is all about expressing whatever you want however you want. Most bad posts just won't get that many views or will get downvoted and they will disappear into obscurity within the site. Many people take their posts very seriously in the respect that they want people to view them and give positive feedback. Some people seem to almost beg for upvotes and positive replies. Lately it seems most of the popular posts are video's or pictures of people's pets which I can appreciate for their cuteness. Some of the more popular posts are also people's sad life stories or current hardships. They dont really ask for advice or help so I dont really get why they share such intimate, heavy knowledge. I guess its to just vent, but it seems like some people just want comfort from people they dont know.

  1. I am a redditor and I get annoyed at people who make posts about hating on other people. It seems to try to circumvent the system they put in place to get rid of content people don't want to see. If you don't like something, downvote it and if you're in the majority no one will see it. I don't get why trolls hate on stuff that makes the front page because obviously people liked it or it wouldn't have gotten there. Although, reddit is pretty intense about their norms so I can see why people get so heated about some things. Those people need to mosey on down to /r/trees and see what friendly users say to each other.
