Practicum Post #2

After my first foray into the film discussion board world failed I went ahead and looked into a couple other sites. My first thought was to go to IMBD since I'm already on it all the time anyway. I hated their message board layout though. In order to see a post you had to click on it and it would only load that post and not the previous one so it made it impossible to compare. There may have been an easier way to do it (How else could they have such a massive discussion community?) but I became frustrated with it pretty quickly. I was also surprised to see that because their community was so big, boards would overflow very quickly. This made it hard to keep up with conversations because they were constantly being updated. I couldn't imagine trying to write out a logical post and submitting it before the conversation track had already shifted.
For those and a few other reasons I decided to join Chasing the Frog.com. It doesn't appear that flashy but after reading into some of the forum posts it appears that they have a very dedicated group of core users (their moderators are determined by how dedicated certain users are. Self Elected). The community also appeared very knowledgeable and sizable enough to sustain a thread/itself (though not too big to get lost in the shuffle). My avatar is still Gondorff and I just replied to my first post.
Hopefully this site sticks around just a little bit longer than CinemaBlend, but for now it looks promising.
