If it wasn’t already obvious from my other posts or from your own observations while using Last.fm, this is an amazing site for little-known, up-and-coming artists (though it is also a great site for well-known artists).
With the option to upload your own music (pictured above), it wouldn’t take much to make the charts on Last.fm (a tab that I hadn’t yet explored until today). I discovered a few new artists today by checking out the ‘hyped artists’ (pictured below).
I wasn’t too crazy about any of the artists whose radio I listened to, but, hey, great music takes time to find!
My taste ultimately doesn’t matter, anyway – I still think it’s awesome that bands I’ve never heard of (and bands that possibly no one has heard of) have an opportunity like this to get their name out there and build a fan-base!
As I continued to browse I noticed a link at the top of the page that I hadn’t seen before (pictured below).
Clicking on the link brought me to a page that listed hundreds of festivals taking place all over the country! (What a dream). From Hookahville to Jazz Festivals all the way to festivals featuring artists like Godsmack and Megadeth…this page literally has something for everyone. You can also check out all events that are being offered. You are able to browse by genre, date or you can see what events are recommended for you based on your library!
An option that I have not yet explored on Last.fm is connecting my account to my iTunes. I have way too many songs on my iTunes that I no longer like (like my middle school days of loving Good Charlotte), so I’m a bit scared to try that out – but maybe I’ll give it ago before the semester is over!

That festival link sounds really cool! I'll have to check it out. Oh, summertime..
