I have been working on my practicum project of observing what children do on the internet for the past week. So far, I have been playing on the website Club Penguin, and it is challenging. I created a penguin, was given a certain amount of coins, and basically turned loose. The motto for the site is: Waddle Around and Meet New Friends.
Participants have the options of becoming a member which costs $5.95 monthly, $29.95 for 6 months, or $57.95 for the year. You can also play for free but then the options to what you are able to do are limited. I am playing for free and have already found multiple games/tasks that I want to do but am unable to do because of the membership status.
Many kids are members, which at first I thought was weird, but after thinking about it, if this is all kids do, I guess it makes sense?
I am having trouble interacting with other penguins as everyone seems so set on doing their own thing, but I continue to try.
