Blog #4 - Google

I'm mostly unsurprised by the results of googling myself. The first links are my Facebook and Twitter pages. In my opinion, I think the Facebook privacy settings have done a pretty good job, all that is visible on my public profile is my profile picture and a few pages I've liked. Since my Twitter is not set to private, all of my tweets are viewable to anyone who views my page. However, I made a conscious decision to have a public Twitter, so this does not bother me too much.

Beyond the links to my Facebook and Twitter pages, the only links I could find with me in them are a few links to some of my tweets and a random link to some website called questia.com that apparently has an article about honor roll at my high school. It seems like this website is some sort of database of magazine and newspaper articles. While I am surprised that this random website has info on me, I don't consider my honor roll information from high school as very personal information, so I am not too bothered by this.

Beyond the above mentioned links, I couldn't find much. From the other links I have found, it seems that Woolwich is a town in Great Britain, and Peter Kyle was a Scottish football player who played for the Woolwich Arsenal club from 1906-08 during his career. Also, interestingly enough, the seventh link on the first page is a link to my profile for this very blog. Overall, I am not too surprised about the results I have found, and it does not seem like too much of my personal information is available to the general public (beyond what I tweet). If anything, I'm surprised that there isn't more personal information available, especially from Facebook. It seems like privacy settings can actually do a pretty decent job at protecting your personal information (from people who try to google you, at least).
