Practicum #2-KelseyK

I've spent quite a few hours on Last.fm over the last week, but haven't really found too many new things about the site. One thing that I did discover is the ability to generate an HTML code for my about me section (pictured at left).

On a different note, my friend requests (that I mentioned in my last practicum post) got accepted. I'm finding out that having friends on last.fm isn't really the thing to do - you don't have to be friends with someone to leave them shouts (similar to a Facebook wall post), but it's nice to network! I lucked out with one friend who's been sharing pages to artists or songs he thinks I'd like. He also gave me the tip that you can play other people's libraries that you have similar taste to.

As far as general aspects of the website go, everything is fairly simple. as you listen to music a slideshow is shown of the artist (pictured at right). Then general information about the artist is given below the track being played along with links to email, tag, buy, or send a ringtone of the track to your phone. As you can see in the picture there are links next to "Cecil Otter Radio." These give you the option to love or ban a song, stop the radio, or go to the next track (in that order). Last.fm is the same as Pandora in that you can play the radio of any artist or genre.

Last.fm also gives you the option to block Christmas music from playing on any of your radios, which I found funny.
One thing that sets Last.fm apart from other music forums are the pages upon pages of free MP3s. I've definitely utilized this feature! I'm not really sure how Last.fm is able to have so much free music, but I'm certainly not questioning it! (Though I'll try to do some research and figure it out for my next post). Until next time!
